Donation Policy

We gladly accept donations for our school library. If you are donating books, movies, or toys please keep the following conditions in mind. All donations need to be in good usable condition. Please do not send paperback picture books, those do not hold up for circulation in the library. See your child's teacher about possibly donating those to a classroom library. Also, please be sure that the content of all books and movies are appropriate for our elementary-age children. Please be sure that there are no inappropriate actions, excessive language, or other elements of a graphic nature included. Any items with this content will be discarded and not used in our library or classrooms. We want to thank you for your support of the AES library.  

Acceptable Use Policy

The students at Agricola Elementary School are provided with quality internet access for research and to enrich educational standards. Students should uphold manners in digital citizenship and proper Netiquette. Students should work diligently to give ownership to online information and avoid plagiarism. District internet filters will not allow student access to online gaming or chat rooms. These websites are filtered to ensure student online safety.

 

Computer use in the AES Warrior Library is encouraged. Students are expected to use proper netiquette and display digital citizenship. The library website has links to an abundance of online research sites and educational games. Students should ask for approval from the librarian before searching for a website that is not listed on the library webpage. Online safety is important and students should always adhere to the internet safety rules discussed in the library.

Operational Policies

  • Hours of operation

Our library is open from 7:40 AM -2:30 PM Monday through Friday.

  • Scheduling policy for classes and justification

Per the school enrichment schedule, classes are assigned one hour each week for library time. There are also flexible times before and after scheduled classes for students to come in for books or research.

  • Circulation policy

    • Length of circulation period: Students may keep books for up to two weeks before they are considered overdue.

    • Number of items: Students are only allowed to check out one book at a time.

    • Rules for certain grade levels: Preschool students are not allowed to check out books. Kindergarten students begin checking out from a special collection of paperbacks around the end of the first semester and will expand to browse the regular collection in January.

    • Policies for teachers: Teachers and staff are allowed to check out as many resources as they need with no time limit.

    • Fines policy: Report cards are held in May if students do not pay for lost library books. Book fines are dependent upon age and condition of the book prior to the student checking it out. The average fine is $10.

    • Behavior in the library

      1. We always show kindness and respect to everyone in the library.

      2. Remember to always walk and never run in the library.

      3. Treat books properly according to our book care rules.

      4. Voices and behavior should reflect your presence in the library.

 

  • Instructions for students coming to the library on their own from other locations in the school.

Students should have a note from their teacher if they come to the library during another class' assigned time.
